Wildlife in the Currituck Salt Marsh

For our second day at the beach, my family went to Currituck Lighthouse & the surrounding wetlands.

Before venturing into the salt marsh, we had lunch and did a bit of wandering. We met two boys net-fishing for crabs.

As is true everywhere here in the outer banks, there were seagulls everywhere.

There haven’t been many bugs down here in coastal North Carolina except for dragonflies and mosquitoes (lots and lots of mosquitoes…)

AnĀ egretĀ out in the marsh hunted, completely ignoring the many photographing it.

Anywhere a post is to be perched upon, there is a seagull.

And if there aren’t enough posts for all the gulls, expect a squabble.
