Wildlife at Huntley Meadows

This weekend, flowering plants confirmed the early arrival of spring. Last weekend, however, was typical of early March. Though the temperatures were unseasonably warm, trees were devoid of leaves and flowers. We went to Huntley Meadows , which was full of wildlife, as always.

As always, there was an abundance of turtles, covering any and every un-submerged log.

For the first time ever in many years, we saw a muskrat swimming by the boardwalk. Years ago, my dad saw one and fell into the marsh chasing after it. This muskrat, upon noticing the plenitude of onlookers, swam away.
